Spiel Tour; 1991/2007
A colour reinterpretation of a black and white Laibach poster from 1991.
In Roman religion, Mercury is the god of merchants, travellers, carriers of goods, thieves and swindlers. He is sometimes represented as holding a purse, symbolic of his business functions. He is usually equated with the Hermes, the swift-footed messenger of God of Greek mythology who, like Mercury, was also depicted wearing winged sandals or a winged cap.
Laibach recorded the album "Kapital" in 1992, which thematically chimed with the varied facets of Mercury and in concerts to support that album the musicians dressed as the deity. The video they made for the release of the album - "Wirtschaft is Tot" - also shows the band members in this guise.
Silkscreen print on paper: 100 x 70 cm, limited edition of 65 in the series, numbered, signed, and stamped with an original Laibach seal.
All posters are suitably protected and shipped in a cardboard tube, separately from the other ordered items.
